In recent weeks, some Google Messages for Android users have experienced a problem with GIFs sent from iPhones being distorted. Instead of animated images, Android recipients are seeing distorted still images with missing dots or pixels. This issue is observed on a variety of devices, including Pixel and Samsung smartphones.
Here's What We Know
The cause may be a compression or rendering error on the iOS side. Given the latest iOS updates and the upcoming introduction of RCS on the iPhone, Apple is known to be working on a fix for this issue.
The first beta version of iOS 18 will be presented at the WWDC 2024 conference, but it is unknown whether RCS will already be included in this version.
