The Frostpunk 2 game director spoke about the main features of the strategy: players can expect intense political struggles, harsh weather conditions and difficult moral dilemmas
There's not much time left before the release of the dystopian strategy game Frostpunk 2, but the developers from 11 bit are not sharing much information about the game.
Finally, the game's co-game director and design director Jakub Stokalski spoke about the key features of the sequel and how Frostpunk 2 differs from the first part.
Here's What We Know
Describing Frostpunk 2, Stokalski called the game a mixture of steampunk and dieselpunk, which is directly reflected in the style and plot of the game.
The events of the strategy still unfold in the world of eternal winter and frost, where people have to fight for survival, and the main resource is heat and everything that can generate it.
As the main change in the sequel, the game director called the increased scale of events, cities and moral dilemmas in Frostpunk 2.
The story will centre on a different story than the first part, and players will be able to choose what kind of world they want to build. New mechanics will appear in the game, the process of building cities will be changed, the image of post-apocalyptic society will be changed.
One of the main innovations of Frostpunk 2 will be the City Council system, which includes representatives of different factions and factions, and all of them are trying to achieve their goals, while constantly putting pressure on the player, forcing him to listen to them and go against the wishes of other members of the council.
In Frostpunk 2 the developers have shifted the focus not on survival, but on the moral component of the decisions made. The player will face realistic dilemmas, which he can face in reality.
It's not that we want to create depressing games for the sake of creating depressing games. We want to make you think about something, and to do that, we need to choose something grim.
Frostpunk 2 will support integration with Twitch, which will allow stream viewers to influence the events taking place in the game. The developers don't tell yet how it will be implemented, but they call this feature a "sociological experiment".
When We Can Expect It
Frostpunk 2 will be released on the 25th of July. At first the game will be available only on PC, and later it will be released on consoles and will be available in the Game Pass catalogue from day one.
