Pentagon orders two next-generation Constellation-class frigates worth more than $1bn
The US Department of Defence has ordered two new-generation Constellation-class frigates. This is reported on the official website of the Pentagon.

The contract worth $1.045bn was awarded to the US company Fincantieri Marinette Marine. It will supply the military with the fifth and sixth frigates of the new generation of the Constellation class.
The official website of the US Department of Defence states that the robots will be built at Fincantieri Marinette Marine's plants in Ohio, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania Illinois, New Jersey and New York. The contract runs through 2030.
The Constellation class frigates are based on FREMM ships. Fincantieri Marinette Marine built them for the Italian Navy. They are 151 metres long, with a draft of 5.5 metres and a beam of 19.7 metres. The total displacement exceeds 7,400 tonnes.
Each ship will carry an AN/SPY-6 active phased array radar with digital scanning antenna array. The Mk 41 launcher can employ Standard Missile 2 and RIM-162 ESSM missiles.
