Sweden to transfer Saab ASC 890 long-range radar detection and control aircraft to Ukraine

The Ukrainian army will receive the Saab ASC 890 long-range radar detection and control aircraft.

The information was shared by the Ministry of Defence of Sweden. The aircraft is part of a new aid package worth $1.3 billion. Saab ASC 890 will significantly strengthen Ukraine's air defence system. Unfortunately, there are no delivery dates for the aircraft yet.

ASC 890 is a multifunctional airborne command and control aircraft developed on the basis of Saab 340. The main purpose of the ASC 890 is to perform command, control, communications and reconnaissance (C4ISR) missions. The aircraft is equipped with Erieye active phased array (AESA) radar, which provides high accuracy in target detection and tracking. The ASC 890 can act as an airborne command centre, effectively coordinating the actions of various units. Its high mobility and multifunctional capabilities make it an important tool to enhance combat effectiveness and security in various military operations.
