Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey leaves Bluesky
Twitter co-founder and ex-CEO Jack Dorsey seems to have left Bluesky as well. It is not known when this actually happened, the first information appeared on 25 May 2024, when user X with the nickname Jack asked if Dorsey was still on the Bluesky team and received a laconic "no" answer. This raised a lot of questions that have remained unanswered. However, on 26 May 2024, Bluesky published an official statement about Dorsey's departure from the team.
"We sincerely thank Jack for his help in funding and launching the Bluesky project. Today, Bluesky is thriving as an open-source social network powered by Atproto, a decentralised protocol we created.
With Jack's departure, we are looking for a new board member for Bluesky with a proven track record of working for a company who shares our commitment to building a social network that puts people in control of their experience. More to come!"

Jack Dorsey founded Bluesky back in 2019 while serving as Twitter CEO. At the time, he wrote that Twitter was funding a small team of no more than 5 people to develop an open, decentralised social media standard. Later, Bluesky became an independent company headed by Jay Graber.
When Dorsey left Twitter, many people began to see Bluesky as the new and better Twitter, especially against the backdrop of many controversial innovations in recent years.
Dorsey deleted his own Bluesky account back in 2023, but he eventually removed himself from Instagram as well and advised users to take care of their privacy on their own, not relying solely on companies' responsibilities.
