Google Meet app has caused a glitch in Samsung Messages
Samsung Galaxy smartphone users faced an unexpected problem: the branded messaging app started crashing. The problem occurred suddenly and soon forums such as Reddit and Samsung's official channels were filled with complaints. The app closed every time users tried to start a new chat.
Here's What We Know
The glitch caused concern among users as many were left without access to their conversations and important messages. Standard troubleshooting methods such as clearing the cache or restarting the phone did not help, forcing users to look for other solutions.
A Samsung moderator helped temporarily resolve the issue by suggesting a possible solution: stop the Google Meet app forcibly and then disable or remove updates to that video chat. Alternatively, the option was to disable Google Meet completely. For those who didn't want to interfere with Google Meet, the Samsung moderator suggested switching to Google Messages, which is also pre-installed on Samsung devices.
But after some time, Samsung informed its users through its official forums that Google has released an update for the Google Meet app. This update prevents the Samsung Messages app from crashing all the time. The availability of the new update for Google Meet can be seen on the Google Play Store.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Google apps have caused issues on Samsung devices. Previously, other Google apps such as Android System WebView have caused similar crashes.
