Instagram allows you to ignore everyone except your close friends
Instagram is expanding its Limits feature, a security tool that allows users to hide personal messages and comments from unwanted accounts. Instagram offers a new option to ignore incoming messages from everyone except users in your close friends list.
Here's What We Know
Initially, this option was created to help creators deal with aggressive actions, but now anyone can use it to protect themselves from unwanted messages and comments.
By activating the restriction for everyone, the account owner will only see personal messages, tags, and mentions from people on their list of close friends. Other users will still be able to interact with your posts, but you won't see those updates. They also won't know that their content has been hidden.
Instagram allows you to restrict accounts for up to four weeks, with the option to extend this period.
How To Switch It On
To turn on restrictions, you need to tap on your profile, select the menu in the upper right corner of the screen, and click on "Restricted Interactions". You can set up restrictions for accounts that don't follow you, your most recent followers, or all but your closest friends.
Instagram allows you to prevent users from tagging or mentioning you, as well as hiding their comments.
Earlier this year, Meta released a new feature that by default prevents adults from interacting with minors on Instagram and Facebook. The company has also tried to hide content about suicide and eating disorders from teens on both of its platforms.
