The Samsung Galaxy Ring will have a special Lost mode, allowing the ring to flash while it's lost
Samsung unveiled its first Galaxy Ring smart ring back in February at MWC and its full unveiling is expected to happen in July at the company's next Unpacked event. We recently wrote about the battery capacity varying depending on the size of the ring and now another feature of the device has been revealed.
Here's What We Know
Parsing the APK file of the Samsung Find app has revealed a few more details about the ring. It will have a Lost mode that will allow Galaxy Ring owners to quickly find their device by making it blink if lost.
This feature is made possible thanks to an inbuilt LED light that is activated through the Samsung Find app. If the user can't find their ring, all they have to do is switch on the "Lost" mode and the app will attempt to connect with the ring to initiate the flashing. If the connection is successful, the ring will start flashing, making it easier to find.
Additionally, if the ring is lost, users will be able to lock their Samsung account through the app, preventing unauthorised people from accessing personal information and using the ring. This is a significant improvement over the functionality offered by competitors such as Oura, whose rings go into restricted mode when attempting to pair with a new device.
These and other features of the Samsung Galaxy Ring smart ring will be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is expected to take place on 10 July.
