Dongfeng Motor integrates Walker S humanoid robots into the automotive manufacturing process
Dongfeng Motor has officially partnered with Ubtech Robotics to utilise humanoid robots in tasks related to vehicle production. As part of this collaboration, an industrial version of Ubtech's Walker S humanoid robot will be deployed on Dongfeng Motor's production line to perform a number of tasks during the manufacturing process.
Here's What We Know
The Walker S robot will perform checks on seatbelts, door locks, headlight covers, body quality, tailgate and interior. The robots will also perform other tasks such as oiling, front axle assembly, material collection and selection, logo installation and label printing.
The Walker S is 1.7 metres tall and features new control algorithms. It can interact with the plant system, receive information about the status of the production line and share the collected data in real time. The humanoid robot is equipped with 41 high-performance servo drives and a full suite of perception systems, including multi-dimensional force perception, stereo vision with multiple views, omni-directional hearing and inertial perception. It also has high-quality night vision, dynamic environmental feedback integration and autonomous environmental exploration technology, enabling it to perceive its surroundings as well as the people and objects around it.
Importantly, the robots will work in co-operation with traditional automation equipment. Dongfeng Motor CEO Lin Changbo said that the humanoid robot from Ubtech will be combined with the application of the latest artificial intelligence technology. It is expected that after practical training, the robots will be able to inspect and assemble components more accurately. This will not only enhance Dongfeng Motor's intelligent manufacturing, but also set a new standard for intelligent manufacturing in the automotive industry.
