Google shuts down Google Business Messaging

Google has announced the discontinuation of the chat feature in Google Business Profile, known as Google Business Messaging.

Here's What We Know

This option allowed customers to initiate conversations directly with businesses through their business profiles on Google Maps or in Google Maps or Search. This feature is scheduled to be discontinued on 31 July 2024.

After 15 July 2024, users will no longer be able to start new chats with businesses through Google Business Messaging. However, existing conversations can continue until 31 July.

Companies that have used this service have the opportunity to download their chat and call history using Google Takeout until the end of the feature.

Google emphasises the importance of continuously improving and diversifying communication channels for companies, especially those that rely on technology platforms to interact with customers.
