Emmanuel Macron: France to transfer Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets to Ukraine

President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron has announced that France will supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with fourth-generation Dassault Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets.

It is not yet known how many aircraft we are talking about. Also Macron did not disclose the terms of delivery of fighter jets. He only added that with the help of French planes Ukraine will be able to attack military facilities on the territory of Russia.

The Dassault Mirage 2000 is a French fourth-generation multirole fighter. It was developed by Dassault Aviation in the 1970s. The main combat aircraft of the French Air Force in the late 20th and early 21st century. Besides France, it was also operated by some countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Since the beginning of production of the Dassault Mirage 2000, more than 600 aircraft have been produced.

As for the Mirage 2000-5, it is a modernised version of the original Mirage 2000, designed to perform a variety of combat missions.
