Up to 10 systems per year: Diehl Defence increases production of IRIS-T surface-to-air missile systems

German weapons manufacturer Diehl Defence has announced that it is increasing production of the IRIS-T SAM system.

The information was shared by the CEO of the company Helmut Rauch. It is about 10 complexes per year. In addition, Diehl Defence also plans to increase the production of missiles for the systems from 2025.

By the way, it recently became known that Germany transferred an additional battery of IRIS-T SAM systems to the Ukrainian army. A total of 4 complexes are now in service with the AFU. By 2026, this number will increase to 9.

IRIS-T (Infra Red Imaging System Tail/Thrust Vector-Controlled) is an anti-aircraft missile system developed by the German company Diehl Defence on the basis of IRIS-T guided air-to-air missile. The system is designed to defend against a variety of airborne threats, including aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles. The system can be integrated into existing air defence systems such as Patriot and is used to cover strategically important facilities.
