Samsung intends to render Apple's Dynamic Island technology useless with PolarID
Samsung seems to have found a way to replicate Apple's Face ID feature, using just its front-facing camera and some artificial intelligence technology that reads the image. The new feature will be called PolarID.
Here's What We Know
According to recent reports, Samsung is planning to introduce PolarID in its upcoming flagship models, starting with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This facial recognition technology will use advanced artificial intelligence combined with a front-facing camera to achieve similar functionality to Apple's Face ID, but without the need for a notch on the screen like Dynamic Island in the iPhone 15 series.
Apple is reportedly preparing a major redesign of the iPhone that will make it a full-screen smartphone and by then, it may have moved to an under-screen sensor solution. Samsung is not lagging behind, offering alternative methods of biometric identification. In particular, the S26 Ultra is expected to retain under-display fingerprint recognition, giving users more options to protect their data.
