Looks good: Dragon Age: The Veilguard developers have revealed 20 minutes of gameplay of the new RPG
An extensive gameplay demonstration of the Dragon Age: The Veilguard RPG has taken place.
The developers from BioWare showed a 20-minute snippet from the beginning of the game.
Here's What We Know
Gamers were introduced to the main character - his name is Rook, and he is accompanied by a charismatic dwarf Varric Tethras, familiar to every Dragon Age fan.
They find themselves on the streets of a thriving city under attack by hordes of demons summoned by the elven wizard Solas. Varric reminds them that he was once his friend, but looking at what he's turned into, the dwarf is eager to help the protagonist against the powerful sorcerer.
From a technical point of view Dragon Age: The Veilguard resembles Mass Effect: Andromeda - the game has the same graphics, similar staging and an identical dialogue system. But the image quality in The Veilguard seems to be better than in Andromeda. According to the shown footage, it seems that the facial animation has undergone significant improvements.
The developers also showed the combat system of the game. During the battle the player can pause and open a circular menu of abilities to assign the required skills to three hotkeys and use them during the battle.
It looks a bit unfamiliar compared to past instalments, but it might be handy.
BioWare's game designers made it clear that the main focus of the new game is on the interaction between the protagonist and his seven companions, each of whom has unique abilities, character, views, and all of them have their own deep storyline, the development of which is influenced by the player's actions and choices.
When We Can Expect It
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is expected to release in autumn 2024 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
