Samsung has released a mysterious update for several Galaxy smartphones in Europe, while the Galaxy A34 and Tab S7 FE have received a May security patch
Samsung, after some delay, finally released a new security update for June 2024 for select smartphone models this week. Other Galaxy devices were expected to receive similar updates in the coming days. However, Samsung seems to have other plans.
Here's What We Know
In Europe, the company has released new updates for several Galaxy smartphone models, including the latest Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 series, which earlier this week received the June security update in some regions but are now receiving the update with an older security patch.
While security hasn't improved in these updates, they are expected to bring other improvements as suggested by their firmware versions. Samsung hasn't said what exactly the improvements are, but it's likely that the company is trying to address some of the bugs and issues, including increased battery consumption, that users have experienced after updating their phones to One UI 6.1.
Here's the full list of devices that are getting the surprise update:
- Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra
- Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra
- Galaxy S23 FE
- Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra
- Galaxy A54
- Galaxy Flip 5
- Galaxy Fold 5
Samsung has also started rolling out the May 2024 security update for the Galaxy A34 and Galaxy Tab S7 FE. Both devices were recently updated to One UI 6.1 and now that June is almost halfway over, they're getting last month's security improvements in the European region.
