Notes app for iOS 18 gets colour text highlighting
iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 will bring the long-awaited colour highlighting feature to the Notes app. This new feature allows users to add different colours to their notes, making them more organised and visually appealing.
Here's What We Know
Apple offers five colours to choose from: purple, pink, orange, mint, and blue. The developers did not provide an option to create custom colours.
Here's How It Works
Coloured highlighting is applied through the formatting interface, accessible via the "Aa" button. Users can select any text and choose a colour for it. The text and background change colour according to the selected hue.
This option is a great tool for highlighting important points, categorising information, or simply adding a little personality to your notes.
Previously, adding coloured text was only available for handwritten notes on iPad.
In addition to colour highlighting, iOS 18 Notes also gets a number of other new features, such as:
- Live audio transcription and summarisation
- Collapsing chapter headings
- The ability to solve maths problems entered in Notes (or written on an iPad)
The iOS 18 beta is currently available to developers, with a public beta expected in July.
