The United States has decided to sell Denmark advanced AIM-120C-8 air-to-air missiles and logistics worth $215.5 million.

Here's What We Know

The Kingdom of Denmark is to receive 84 AIM-120C-8 missiles and 3 missile guidance systems. The deal also includes auxiliary equipment, spare parts, other materials and repairs.

"This sale will improve Denmark's ability to meet current and future threats by providing it with modern and effective air-to-air munitions," the Defence Cooperation Agency said in a statement.

The Kingdom of Denmark is in the process of modernising its air force. The country is to replace its F-16 fleet with 27 5th generation F-35A Lightning II multi-role fighters. The upgrade also includes equipping the new aircraft with AIM-120C-8 missiles.

It is worth noting that this year Poland also received an agreement to purchase 745 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM missiles worth more than $1.5 billion. Countries such as Germany, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Japan, and Sweden are also interested in purchasing missiles from the United States.
