Here's What We Know

The information was shared by the head of the company's ground systems department Bjorn Bernhard. It is about the anti-aircraft system, which will consist of the Skyranger 35 module and the Leopard 1 tank chassis, thanks to which it will be possible to increase the ammunition of the anti-aircraft gun, as well as to increase the cross-country ability of the system. In addition, the Leopard 1 chassis will allow the installation of more sensors to detect targets. There is no information yet on when the production of the new anti-aircraft system will begin.

Flashback

Skyranger 35 is a modern mobile anti-aircraft artillery system developed by the German company Rheinmetall. It is designed to protect troops and strategic facilities from airborne threats: drones, helicopters and cruise missiles. The main armament of the Skyranger 35 includes a 35mm automatic Oerlikon Revolver Gun, capable of firing with high rate of fire and accuracy. The system is equipped with advanced sensors and radars to detect, track and engage targets automatically. Skyranger 35 can be mounted on various mobile platforms, which ensures high manoeuvrability and rapid deployment. The complex is integrated with fire control systems and is capable of operating as part of a unified air defence network with multi-level defence.
