Paradox Tectonic, the developer of Life by You, has announced its closure
After the cancellation of Life by You, Paradox Interactive announced the closure of Paradox Tectonic, a development company that was established in 2019 with 24 employees to work on the life simulator.
Here's What We Know
Paradox CEO Fredrik Wester commented that this is difficult and radical news for their colleagues at Tectonic, who have been working hard to release Life by You in early access. He explained that with the cancellation of their only project, they had to make the difficult decision to close the studio, and expressed his deep gratitude for their efforts in trying to take Paradox into a new genre.
The Life by You project, announced in March 2023, was intended to compete with EA's The Sims and was led by former Sims executive Rod Humble. The game was supposed to feature an open world without loading screens, real-language conversations, and tools for creating and managing third-person characters.
