The best DLC in FromSoftware history: critics rave about the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring
In just a few days the release of the massive Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for one of the most highly praised games in the history of the industry - Elden Ring - will take place.
It was obvious that FromSoftware studio would not let the fans down and provide them with a great DLC worthy of the original game, but it seems that the Japanese exceeded even the most daring expectations.
Here's What We Know
Critics got a chance to familiarise themselves with Shadow of the Erdtree and published detailed reviews. Almost unanimously, experts called the addition the best DLC in FromSoftware's history and a role model. The developers not only kept all the advantages of Elden Ring, but also supplemented the already excellent game with huge and interesting locations, a variety of enemies, new weapons and armour, spells and mechanics specially created for the add-on, which work only in the Land of Shadow.
Critics noted that the add-on turned out to be really large and quite comparable to modern standalone games. You can spend dozens of hours in it and at each session discover something new and unexpected.
At the time of writing, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree received the following scores:
- 94 points - Opencritic, recommended by 98% of reviewers;
- 92 points - Metacritic, PC version;
- 95 points - Metacritic, PlayStation 5 version;

When We Can Expect It
