Gmail now offers a simple and advanced toolbar
Users of the web version of Gmail can now take advantage of a new, simplified dashboard interface when reading emails and managing their inbox.
Here's What We Know
After opening an email, a "Your new, simpler dashboard" notification appears to inform you that it's now easier to focus on basic tasks. Other actions are now under the "More" menu.
The simple toolbar visible when viewing an email inbox shows only the buttons: 'Archive', 'Report spam', 'Delete', 'Mark as unread' and 'Move to', while all other functions are hidden in an additional menu.
The previous toolbar design, now called "advanced", included functions such as "Postpone", "Add to Tasks" and "Add to Shortcut". Additional menu options included "Mark as unimportant," "Add a note," "Add to calendar," "Filter similar emails," and "Ignore."
The new interface offers a less cluttered design and can be useful for quick initial sorting of emails. For those who prefer the old interface, just switch to it once at the bottom of the additional menu, which won't affect other settings.
The Gmail dashboard update is still ongoing and the new interface has not yet appeared on all accounts.
