WhatsApp video calls get AR effects, filters and backgrounds

Meta has added three new features to WhatsApp's video calling feature, making it much easier to use. However, the company is also working on adding other features, including augmented reality (AR) effects, backgrounds, and filters.

According to a new report from WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.24.13.14) includes three new tabs during a video call: filters, backgrounds, and effects.

• Filters: The new option allows you to gently reduce skin texture to hide imperfections, as well as tint your skin to enhance your appearance without drastic changes.
• Backgrounds: Choose different backgrounds to replace the existing background on your video calls, ideal for changing the atmosphere or for privacy.
• AR effects: Add some fun to your video calls with augmented reality effects, such as hats similar to those used on Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and Snapchat.

There is no exact information on when these options will be available in the stable version of WhatsApp, but it is expected to be within the coming months.
