Rheinmetall signs major contract to supply artillery shells worth over EUR 8 billion
The German concern Rheinmetall has been awarded a major contract by the Bundeswehr to supply 155 mm artillery ammunition worth up to €8.5 billion.

The company signed the contract on 20 June 2024 with the head of the Bundeswehr Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Technical Support (BAAINBw). The purpose of the order is to replenish the stocks of the Bundeswehr, its allies, and to support Ukraine.
The first batches are to be delivered in early 2025. Germany, as the main buyer, will send part of the ammunition to Ukraine, but the Netherlands, Estonia, and Denmark are also participating in the order.
At the same time, an agreement was concluded to ensure capacity utilisation of a new plant under construction in Lower Saxony, which is estimated to cost around 880 million, with deliveries also scheduled for 2025.
