Google stops supporting VPN from Google One
Google has officially discontinued support for Google One VPN. This news came as a surprise to users, as the service was launched in October 2020 and has since gained popularity among Google One subscribers.
Here's What We Know
Google One VPN provided an additional layer of online protection, but according to the company's official statement, people simply do not use it, which led to its discontinuation. Google noted that this solution will allow it to support more popular features, such as Fitbit Premium and Nest Aware.
Although the Google One VPN is no longer available to users, owners of certain Pixel smartphone models, such as the Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Fold, 8, 8 Pro, and 8a, continue to have access to the "Pixel VPN by Google" as part of their phone purchase.
Consumers who were already using the Google One VPN will be notified that it has been disabled when they try to connect. In addition, the company is providing instructions on how to uninstall the app on various platforms such as Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows.
