Dreamworks is not stopping: Shrek sequel is due out in 2025, and a separate Donkey cartoon will be launched after that

At the end of 2022, Puss in Boots 2, a spin-off to Shrek, was released. The film received good reviews and raised almost half a million dollars, so Dreamworks already has plans for the future of the green ogre universe.

Eddie Murphy, who plays a donkey in Shrek, said that work on the next Shrek started 5 months ago. The actor has already recorded some of the lines and will return to it later. Eddie believes that Shrek 5 will be released in 2025. It is worth reminding that the fourth part was released back in 2010.

It is also interesting that Murphy confirmed the development of a separate cartoon about a donkey. Its development will begin after the creation of the fifth Shrek, and Murphy, as in previous cartoons, will return to the voice of the donkey.
