Subsidies are being cancelled, rents are getting more expensive, old people are dying - a major Economy 2.0 update has been released for Cities Skylines 2
Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order studio have kept their promise and released a major update Economy 2.0 for Cities Skylines 2.
Here's What We Know
Patch 1.1.5f1 will significantly change the game's economy, making it more comprehensive, balanced and realistic. The mechanics indirectly related to the economic model of Cities Skylines 2 were also changed.
The developers reminded that old saves are compatible with the updated version of the game, but already built cities will need some time to adjust to the new conditions, and a wave of deaths of elderly citizens will be part of the adaptation.
The main innovations of Economy 2.0:
- Government subsidies will no longer exist;
- the "Taxes" and "Services" tabs in the Economy panel are now unlocked in the first stage, and the "Production" tab in the second stage;
- the "Import City Services" option has been unlocked, with fees based on the city's population;
- the system of payment for renting buildings has changed;
- the developers increased the cost of buying land plots and increased the cost of maintaining them. This change does not affect the nine starting slots.
The full list of changes is published on the game 's Steam page and on the official Cities Skylines 2 website.
Previously, the developers of Cities Skylines 2 reported that they are already working on the next major update, the release of which is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024. It will improve the interface, add new free service buildings, vehicles and other content.
