Google Wallet adds 29 new US banks to its support list
Google Wallet, the popular app for storing and using bank cards, electronic IDs, tickets and car keys, has expanded its list of supported US banks.
Here's What We Know
Twenty-nine new banks have now been added to the list as part of Google's strategy to attract more users. This year, the total number of included banks exceeded 170. It is reported that support for the new banks may not be available immediately, possibly due to gradual integration on the part of the banks or a phased rollout by Google.
The expansion of the list of supported banks highlights the trend away from physical wallets in favour of digital counterparts. Technology giants such as Google are actively working on integrating digital IDs and driving licences into their apps. This could make plastic cards a thing of the past and smartphones an even more integral part of everyday life in the future.
