Google has announced an event to unveil the Pixel 9 and other company products 2 months early - 13 August
Google has changed the traditional release schedule for its Pixel devices, announcing an event two months earlier than usual - 13 August.
Here's What We Know
Google surprised everyone by announcing its annual Made by Google event two months earlier than usual. The event will be held at the company's headquarters in Mountain View, California. Google is expected to unveil its latest developments in artificial intelligence, as well as announce the Pixel 9 smartphone and the next version of its Android operating system.
The early release is thought to be due to Google's desire to get ahead of Apple, which traditionally unveils new iPhones in September. It is also speculated that Google wants to synchronise the launch with the Android 15 update.
Rumours suggest three sizes of the Pixel 9: base, Pro and Pro XL. The Pro XL is expected to be the same size as the current Pixel 8 Pro, while the Pixel 9 Pro will be smaller to cater to users with smaller hands. Also expected to be announced are the new Pixel Buds 3 headphones and the Pixel Watch 3 smartwatch.
