Amazon is developing a new AI chatbot codenamed Metis
Amazon is developing a new artificial intelligence chatbot called Metis, which is expected to be released around September. It is reported by Business Insider. Metis will be powered by a new Olympus AI model, different from Titan, which was released earlier by Amazon.
Here's What We Know
The new chatbot will use an approach known as search-enhanced generation (SEG), which allows to obtain information from authoritative knowledge sources when generating answers. According to the company, this approach provides greater control over the generated text and allows data to be updated without the need to retrain the model.
Metis development is led by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy and Rohit Prasad, AGI Group Chief Scientist and Senior Vice President. The team also includes experienced Alexa AI employees who are using the technology developed for the upcoming Remarkable Alexa voice assistant.
While Metis could technically succeed, Amazon faces competition from other players such as OpenAI with ChatGPT and Google with Bard (now known as Gemini).
