Tidal streaming service to end cooperation with Samsung from 8 July 2024

Tidal has announced that its music streaming app will be shutting down on Samsung Tizen TVs starting 8 July 2024.

Tidal has already removed its apps from Amazon Fire TV and Roku streaming devices. The reasons for this step have not been officially announced.

Users have already started to receive emails from Tidal informing them about this termination.

This marks the end of Tidal's longstanding partnership with Samsung, which began in 2018 with the launch of the Tizen app on TVs. Samsung had even considered acquiring Tidal, but the two companies failed to reach an agreement.

Tidal is popular among lovers of high-quality Hi-Fi audio, as it offers almost lossless streaming audio in the Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) format. However, the company recently decided to switch to the FLAC format for streaming audio. This may be one of the reasons why it is discontinuing support for some smart TV platforms, including Samsung's Tizen TVs.
