Sweden has acquired the THeMIS tracked multi-purpose drone from the Estonian company Milrem Robotics.

Here's What We Know

The contract for the purchase of this self-propelled drone was signed at Eurosatory 2024 by representatives of the company and the Swedish Armed Forces.

"We are proud that Sweden has become the latest user of THeMIS UGV. Our cooperation will ensure that the Swedish Armed Forces are equipped with the most advanced robotic systems, which will increase their operational efficiency," said a representative of Milrem Robotics.

Sweden chose a cargo version of the drone, but the total number of drones is unknown, as well as the cost of the deal. It is worth noting that THeMIS is equipped with Milrem's MIFIK (Milrem Intelligence Functionality), which allows it to perform various tasks on and off-road. MIFIK allows operators to plan missions using waypoint navigation and set the required vehicle actions along the route.

Flashback

THeMIS is a tracked multi-purpose drone that can be used to provide support to troops, such as transporting cargo or the wounded, as well as transporting weapons. Combat UGVs can also be equipped with light or heavy machine guns, 40mm grenade launchers, 30mm autocannons and anti-tank missile systems.
