Blade Runner 2049 is a popular science fiction thriller directed by Denis Villeneuve. The popularity of this film and the Blade Runner universe in general could not be ignored, so a series that will expand the franchise is currently in development.
Here's What We Know
The filming of Blade Runner 2099 has started in Prague. The series is a sequel to the feature films Blade Runner directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford, and Blade Runner 2049 directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas.
The plot revolves around Olwen, a replicant whose life cycle is coming to an end, and Cora, a young girl trying to secure her brother's future. Together, the characters have to uncover a conspiracy.
It is also known that the series will star Michelle Yeoh, who won an Oscar for the film All At Once, and Hunter Schafer, who became famous as the lead actor in the HBO series Euphoria.
The Prague production of Blade Runner 2099 will continue for the next six months and will be completed in December. The project is expected to cost about one billion CZK ($43 million). The series will then be moved to other countries.
The scriptwriter and main producer of the series is Silka Luisa, who previously worked on the Halo series.
When We Can Expect It
The premiere is still unknown, but the series is worth waiting for on Amazon Prime.
