All the details about Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6, have surfaced online
The specifications of two expected foldable smartphones - Galaxy Flip 6 and Galaxy Fold 6 - have leaked online today. The information was shared by a well-known whistleblower Evan Blass.
Here's What We Know
According to the leak, both devices will get a reinforced aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protective glass. Contrary to expectations, the titanium frame for the Galaxy Fold 6 will not be used. Both new products will get IP48 dust and water resistance, which is a significant improvement over previous models.
The Galaxy Flip 6 will retain the display sizes of its predecessor - a 3.4-inch 60Hz outer screen and a 6.7-inch 120Hz main screen. The Galaxy Fold 6 will delight with a slightly larger 6.3-inch outer screen (versus 6.2 on its predecessors) and a 7.6-inch inner screen, both with a variable 120Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of up to 2,600 nits.
Both models will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 For Galaxy processor with 12GB of RAM and 256/512GB storage options, as well as a possible 1TB version for the Galaxy Fold 6. The devices will run Android 14 with the company's proprietary One UI 6.1.1 shell.
The Galaxy Flip 6 features an evaporative camera system for efficient cooling, which is new to the series. Galaxy AI features are also present in both the phones. Galaxy Flip 6 gets a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP wide-angle camera and a 10 MP front camera, while Galaxy Fold 6 additionally has a 10 MP telephoto lens with triple optical zoom. Both smartphones record 4K video at 60 fps on all cameras, while the Galaxy Fold 6 can also record 8K video at 30 fps and slow motion 4K video at 120 fps using the main camera.
Despite an increased battery to 4,000mAh, the Galaxy Flip 6 is thinner than its predecessor. The Galaxy Fold 6 is also 14 grams lighter than the previous model and has a similar 4,400 mAh battery to its predecessors.
Both phones promise improved battery life and support 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port. It is reported that Samsung DeX mode will only support the Galaxy Fold 6.
