Meta Quest now supports up to six windows
Last month, it was reported that the company was experimenting with free windows in an attempt to respond to visionOS innovations.
Here's What We Know
Vision Pro provides the ability to place windows of any shape, allowing users to have multiple windows and place them anywhere in the virtual environment. Interestingly, the windows retain their location even after a walk in the VP and returning home. By contrast, Meta Quest headsets offer a much more limited experience by default. Users can only have three windows positioned adjacent to each other.
However, the company's beta programme has demonstrated a new window layout with similar capabilities to the third-party app.
Mark Zuckerberg presented an improved version of this feature that supports a combination of three windows with a fixed location. And three windows that can be freely moved.
It is important to note that the visual quality is still far from Vision Pro and the frame rate of the content in most windows seems extremely low.
