Google Contacts is working on the "Besties" widget

Google Contacts recently updated its Featured Contacts widget with notifications, and now the team is working on a new Besties widget.

In the latest version of the app uploaded to the Play Store, codes were found that hint at possible new features.

Last year, Google released the Favourite Contacts widget, which allows you to display up to seven of your favourite contacts and open their information with a single tap.

Version 4.35 of the app shows that the Besties widget will have a similar design and will display contacts marked with an asterisk. Its functionality is not yet fully implemented, but it already replaces the existing Favourites widget.

This change indicates that Google plans to update its widgets more frequently through the app rather than on the system level. This also applies to the new Individual Contact widget, which may replace the Conversations widget on Android.
