YouTube unveils updated tool to remove copyrighted songs from videos
YouTube has unveiled an updated "Erase Song" tool that allows content creators to easily remove copyrighted music tracks from their videos without affecting other audio tracks such as dialogue or sound effects.
Here's What We Know
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced the innovation, noting that the tool uses an artificial intelligence-based algorithm to accurately detect and remove only the music track. However, YouTube warns that sometimes the algorithm may fail if the song is difficult to separate from the rest of the audio. In such cases, creators can use other editing options, such as muting the audio in controversial snippets or trimming them.
After successfully editing a video, YouTube removes claims of Content ID, the company's system for identifying the use of copyrighted content in various clips.
