Insider: Xiaomi 15 series will receive IP69 protection against dust and water

According to insider information, the Xiaomi 15 series, which is expected by the end of this year, will be equipped with IP69 dust and water protection. This is an improvement over the IP68 rating of previous Xiaomi models.

Here's What We Know

IP69 means that the phone can withstand high-powered water jets and steam cleaning, as well as submersion to a depth of 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. This makes it more resistant to environmental influences than IP68-rated phones, and makes it a better choice for those who need a rugged device.

In addition to the improved protection, the Xiaomi 15 series is expected to feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, a 50-megapixel main camera with an ultra-wide aperture, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 5400mAh battery with 100W wired charging.

The Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro will be released in October 2024, and the Ultra model in early 2025.
