Inside Out 2 became the fifth highest-grossing animated film ever: it overtook the Minions and is very close to The Incredibles 2

We wrote that Pixar's Inside Out 2 had grossed one billion dollars. A week has passed since then, and the cartoon is now among the 5 highest-grossing films in history.

Here's What We Know

Over the past week, Inside Out 2 has earned another $216 million, bringing its total box office to $1 billion and $216 million. This is the fifth best result in the history of animated films. Only Frozen II ($1,453), The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($1,361), Frozen ($1,290) and Incredibles 2 ($1,242).

Prior to that, Minions took the 5th place with $1,159.

At this rate, Inside Out 2 will overtake Superfamily 2, as it only needs to raise $27,000. And it is interesting to see whether the latest Pixar animated film will be able to overtake the other record holders.

Inside Out 2 received 90% freshness from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and an audience score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.
