Samsung's Quick Share file sharing system has been enhanced with the integration of Nearby Share with Android. Quick Share is now available on Android phones, Chromebooks, and Windows computers. Google is making wireless file sharing even more convenient with new updates.

Here's What We Know

Currently, you have to manually activate Quick Share on Chromebook Galaxy (and other Chromebooks) to use it. Google plans to change this and enable Quick Share by default.

Update details

  • Enable by default: Quick Share will be automatically enabled on the Galaxy Chromebook, making it available right out of the box.
  • Limited visibility: By default, Quick Share will be set to "Your Devices," which allows your Chromebook to be visible only to other devices where you're signed in with the same Google account.
  • No switch: The toggle to turn off Quick Share will be removed, but you can still control the visibility of your device.
  • Removing Favourite Contacts: The Favourite Contacts feature, which allowed you to determine who can see your Chromebook, will be removed.

The update is still in testing and may take several weeks or months to be released publicly.
