iPhone users can now see speedometer and speed limit in Google Maps
This feature, which has been available for Android users since 2019, allows drivers to see their speed while navigating with Google Maps.
How To Switch It On
To enable this feature, open the Google Maps app, tap on your profile photo, go to Settings and Navigation. Then scroll down to the "Map Display" section and find the switches for the speedometer and speed limit.
The speedometer will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen when you are navigating. If you exceed the speed limit, the speedometer colour will change to warn you.
Here's What We Know
Google notes that the speedometer is for "informational purposes only" and should not be used in place of your vehicle's stock speedometer. This is because your actual speed may differ from the speed displayed in Google Maps.
The new speedometer and speed limit features have already been noticed by iPhone users in India, and Google plans to roll them out globally in the coming weeks.
Some additional details:
- To access Speedometer and Speed Limit, you'll need to update your Google Maps app to the latest version.
- The features are available on iOS and CarPlay.
- The speedometer will display your speed in miles per hour or kilometres per hour, depending on your region.
- You can hide the speedometer if it's bothering you.
