Samsung's Galaxy AI adds brighter, larger watermarks to generated wallpapers
Wallpapers created by artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly popular due to the capabilities they bring to smartphones, and Samsung's Galaxy AI is no exception. However, in the latest One UI update, Samsung has added a much larger watermark to its AI wallpapers.
Here's What We Know
Since the launch of Galaxy AI earlier this year, Samsung smartphone users have gained access to many new features. One of them is the "generative" wallpaper, which is created using Google's artificial intelligence models. This feature is actually a copy of the option introduced last year on Google's Pixel 8 smartphones.
When creating wallpapers using this feature, Samsung imposed a small watermark in the lower left corner in the form of the Galaxy AI logo (a bright emoji). It was a little noticeable, but not too intrusive.
However, in One UI 6.1.1, Samsung updated the watermark by adding "AI-generated content" to the logo in the lower corner.
This change applies to the wallpapers on both the internal and external displays of the Galaxy Fold 6, and is likely to be applied to the Flip 6 as well. The reason for this move seems to be other, more advanced AI image creation tools.
For example, Portrait Studio can generate animated portraits from photos. Samsung has also added a smaller watermark to edits such as removing objects using AI in the gallery. Both of these features also received a new watermark.
It's important to note that this new Galaxy AI watermark is optional, however, we haven't found a way to revert back to the previous style at this time.
This change is likely to be part of One UI 6.1.1, which is rolling out to the Galaxy Fold 6 and Flip 6, and will be coming to the Galaxy S24 and other Galaxy AI devices later.
