Galaxy Fold 6 and Galaxy Flip 6 will receive 7 years of updates from Samsung
With the launch of the Galaxy S24 line, Samsung has become the industry leader in providing the longest software update support for Android devices. The Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra flagships are expected to receive OS and feature updates for seven years.
Here's What We Know
This puts them on par with Google's Pixel phones, which also receive seven years of updates, but due to Samsung's much larger market share and global popularity, this policy will have an impact on many more users.
Although Samsung has not officially announced a software update policy for future devices, it is likely that all new flagships released after the S24 will receive seven years of updates. Here's a list of devices that currently fall under this policy:
Galaxy smartphones that are eligible for seven years of Android and One UI updates:
- Galaxy S24
- Galaxy S24+
- Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Galaxy Fold 6
- Galaxy Flip 6
Samsung has not extended the seven-year support policy to devices released before the Galaxy S24 series. However, over time, new Samsung flagships will be added to the list, as well as probably some mid-range models.
