Honor Magic V3 unveiled in China: ultra-thin design, IPX8 protection, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 5150 mAh battery with fast wired and wireless charging
Honor has unveiled a new Magic V3 foldable smartphone that challenges the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Fold 6.
Here's What We Know
The Magic V3 is incredibly thin: just 9.2mm when folded and 4.35mm when unfolded. The smartphone weighs 226 grams and is made of high-strength carbon fibre used in the aerospace industry. The device features the thinnest hinges in the industry, at just 2.84mm thick, and has a lifespan of 500,000 folds and unfolds.
The Magic V3 is also rated IPX8 waterproof, allowing it to withstand immersion in water up to 2.5 metres deep for 30 minutes. The smartphone features a powerful 5150mAh battery that supports fast charging: 66W wired and 50W wireless. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with an advanced cooling system.
The Magic V3's cameras include two 20-megapixel front cameras and a triple main camera with 50MP (main camera, f/1.6 aperture, OIS), 40MP (ultra-wide-angle, f/2.2 aperture) and 50MP (telephoto, f/3.0 aperture, 3.5x optical zoom, OIS).
The external display is 6.43 inches (2376x1060 pixels) and the internal display is 7.92 inches (2344x2156 pixels), both AMOLED LTPO screens with 120Hz refresh rate. The Magic V3 is available in three memory options: 12GB RAM and 256GB ROM, 16GB RAM and 512GB ROM, and 16GB RAM and 1TB ROM.
Among other features of the model: smart network selection, Link Turbo X network acceleration, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, USB Type-C 3.1 GEN1 port, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on the side edge, and satellite connectivity support.
The Honor Magic V3 will be available in brown, white, green and black colours. Prices in China start at 8,999 yuan ($1240) for the 12/256GB variant and go up to 10,999 yuan ($1516) for the model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. There is no information about global sales of the model yet.
