Google Search app for iOS gets the ability to customise the icon on the home screen
The Google Search app for iPhone and iPad, which is actually a separate browser, now offers users the ability to customise the icon on the home screen.
Here's What We Know
In addition to the standard "G" logo in red, yellow, green and blue on a white background, there are now other options available: a dark background with a white "G", a light background with a dark "G", and reversed options for all four colours.
This isn't the first time Google has offered such colour variations: the Google Search bar widget on Android already had similar logo options.
How To Switch It On
To customise the icon, open the Google Search app, tap on your profile, go to Settings, General, Change app icon. This feature has been available since version 324.0.
It's worth noting that the square and rectangular search widgets on iOS, which offer shortcuts for text, voice, in-lens queries, and anonymous mode, already had the ability to customise background images. This feature, introduced in 2021, offers users a choice of options such as Earth and abstract art, which can be updated daily.
