Rick Shearman, a famous surfer, found himself in a difficult situation while body surfing off Tallow Beach in Byron Bay, Australia. He was swept away by a wave and spent a long time underwater and panicking. Even with his experience, Rick was unable to return to shore on his own, so he turned to his Apple Watch Ultra for help.

Here's What We Know

Unexpectedly for Shearman, his partner on the beach made a mistake, thinking he was in a store. Therefore, help did not come from the beach, and Rick was forced to call the emergency service himself via Apple Watch. The device has a built-in cellular connection, which allowed Shirman to contact the rescuers.

The Apple Watch Ultra that Rick was using is waterproof to 100 metres, which was critical in this situation. He was able to pick up the phone line and confidently communicate with the operator, despite the complications at sea.

After an hour of waiting, the rescue team arrived and helped Rick back to shore.
