Samsung has acquired UK startup Oxford Semantic Technologies to improve and expand Galaxy AI

Samsung has announced the acquisition of Oxford Semantic Technologies, a UK startup specialising in artificial intelligence, data processing and knowledge graph technology.

This purchase is aimed at improving the artificial intelligence capabilities in Galaxy devices. Oxford Semantic Technologies, founded in 2017 by three Oxford University professors, offers advanced knowledge representation and semantic reasoning technologies. Their knowledge graph technology organises information as a network of connected ideas, allowing you to quickly get accurate answers to complex questions.

Samsung plans to integrate these technologies into its devices to create a hyper-personalised user experience while keeping users' sensitive data safe. The company also intends to expand the use of this technology beyond mobile devices by incorporating it into televisions, home appliances and other devices.

Currently, Samsung already uses artificial intelligence in a wide range of its devices and with the acquisition of Oxford Semantic Technologies, it plans to further strengthen its position in the AI market.

Terms of the deal by both companies were not disclosed.
