According to recent leaks, MediaTek is preparing to release a new sub-flagship Dimensity 8400 chipset that promises to challenge Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chips. The Dimensity 8400 is expected to demonstrate better performance than the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, while having a significantly lower price.

Here's What We Know

According to information published by the reputable insider Digital Chat Station, Dimensity 8400 scored between 1.7 and 1.8 million points in the AnTuTu test. This result surpasses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which scores around 1.7 million points.

The Dimensity 8400 is also much more affordable. The cheapest smartphones with this chip are expected to cost as little as 1500 yuan (approximately 200 USD). This makes the Dimensity 8400 a very competitive option for smartphone manufacturers looking to offer flagship performance at an affordable price.

Redmi could be the first manufacturer to introduce the Dimensity 8400. Chinese smartphone maker Redmi is rumoured to be planning to launch several models with the Dimensity 8400, alongside other flagship chips such as the Dimensity 9300+, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. These smartphones are likely to have premium features such as a metal body, glass display, high screen refresh rate, fast charging, and a large battery.
