iOS 18 introduces the ability to open any app without unlocking your iPhone

In iOS 18, iPhone users will get a host of new features unrelated to artificial intelligence: it will be possible to lock an app and require Face ID or a passcode to open it, as well as hide an app from the homescreen. Users will be able to customise app icons by moving them around or choosing a colour theme. But one new feature deserves special attention....

Here's What We Know

One of the most interesting features will be the ability to open any app from the lock screen. Apple will allow customisable shortcuts on the lock screen, replacing the standard torch and camera icons with any app. This will allow you to launch apps without unlocking your iPhone.

The beta version of iOS 18 must be installed to activate this feature. Once installed, users can configure any app to launch with a long press on the lock screen.
