Microsoft has unveiled a new recovery tool designed to help IT administrators recover Windows computers affected by the erroneous CrowdStrike update.

Here's What We Know

The update crashed 8.5 million devices, causing a "blue screen of death." The new tool creates a bootable USB drive that allows the problematic CrowdStrike file to be automatically removed, ensuring that your computer boots properly.

This eliminates the need to boot in safe mode or require administrator privileges. If the drive is protected by BitLocker encryption, the tool will prompt for a recovery key and proceed with the fix.

Microsoft has also published separate recovery steps for Windows virtual machines on Azure and for all Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices on its support site. The tool greatly simplifies the recovery process, making it less manual and more efficient for IT administrators.
