The management of media holding company Netflix held a conversation with investors, in which the topic of the gaming division was touched upon.

Here's What We Know

The gaming division of Netflix has been operating since the end of 2021 and only at the end of 2023 came the first significant success - the mobile version of the compilation Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition was released, the quality of which turned out to be much higher than the versions for PC and consoles.

The company is satisfied with the current results and is going to develop the game direction. At the moment there are more than 80 games in development, most of which are based on films and series from Netflix. Investors were told that game designers are working on games based on Emily in Paris, Selling Sunset, Squid Game and others.

Many of the projects will be part of the Netflix Stories series, which plans to release one game each month.

Netflix admits that at the moment the gaming division doesn't make a lot of profit, but its maintenance doesn't require significant investment and overall it's doing a great job of increasing audience engagement with Netflix franchises.

We've seen what works, what doesn't work. We're refining our programme to get it right with the more than 80 games we have in development right now. And one of the things that's working is connecting our users with interactive story games based on their favourite TV series.
